LGIAsuper appoints John Smith as new Chair

LGIAsuper has today announced the appointment of John Smith to the position of Chair from 1 December 2016.

Mr Smith previously oversaw LGIAsuper’s Audit and Risk Management Committee and was an active member of the fund’s Investment Committee. After 3 years as an independent director with LGIAsuper, he says he is looking forward to stepping into his new role.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to lead and work in closer partnership with the Board and Executive team as we move to grow the fund to benefit all current and future members.”

Before accepting the position of independent director on the LGIAsuper board, Mr Smith was a Director and Consulting Actuary with the Heron Partnership. He has 30 years’ experience providing technical and strategic advice to large superannuation funds and corporations.

Mr Smith says LGIAsuper’s mission remains the same as always: to help members achieve their financial goals.

“LGIAsuper has supported Queensland communities for more than 50 years and is known for its core values of trusted, reliable, understanding. As our fund continues to grow, our members will remain our top priority.”

Founded in 1965, LGIAsuper today looks after nearly $10 billion in retirement savings for 85,000 members.
