23 April 2015

Allan Hazell, the Building and Plumber Branch Manager at Noosa Council, has been recognised for going above and beyond in his service to his council and community at the Local Government Managers Australia Queensland (LMGAQ) Awards for Excellence, announced in Brisbane tonight.

Allan Garnett Mark with captionAllan Hazell beat other entrants from around the state to win the Above and Beyond Award category, sponsored by LGsuper. This award recognises those individuals who have enhanced the experience of council’s customers, improved the service delivery of council and improved their workplace environment.

Allan Hazell was nominated for the award by his colleague Martin Drydale, Director of Planning and Infrastructure at Noosa Council, for the time and effort Allan contributes to improve service to residents and save council, and therefore ratepayers, money.

The Above and Beyond Award category is the only Award for Excellence that recognises an individual and his or her efforts in enhancing council’s reputation. The judges were impressed by Allan’s demonstration of excellence, leadership, effectiveness and contribution to local government.

LGsuper Chair Bronwyn Morris said she congratulated Allan on his worthy win and commitment to local government, while setting such as exemplary example for others to follow.

“As the superannuation fund for Queensland’s local government employees and their spouses, LGsuper understands the important role local government workers play in supporting their communities,” she said.

“Allan has demonstrated how local government employees continue to be dedicated and innovative in an ever changing and ever demanding environment. I commend his exceptional service in helping to shape a better council for better community.

“Allan’s award win is even more significant given the high calibre of entrants this year’s award program attracted.”

Founded in 1965, LGsuper is the super fund for current and former Queensland local government employees and their spouses. Today LGsuper looks after almost $9.5 billion in retirement savings for around 90,000 members.
