In a league of their own

1300SMILES Stadium welcomed some major league players on Saturday 3 September with the Cowboys tackling the Titans and the LGIAsuper Community Hub playing host to the Men of League Foundation.

The Men of League Foundation supports former players, coaches, administrators, referees, officials and their families who have fallen on hard times. It might be a tough and uncompromising sport but the rugby league community is extremely tight knit. The Men of League Foundation provides the following services and contributions:

  • funding for medical operations, rehabilitation and nursing home equipment
  • counselling services
  • community grants
  • social interaction via visits, cards and telephone calls
  • promoting and supporting fundraising events for rugby league people in need of help.

On field, the Cowboys cemented their position in the top four with a 32-16 win over the Titans. Johnathan Thurston shrugged off a bout of tonsillitis to partner LGIAsuper Player Ambassador Michael Morgan in the halves and the dynamic duo was at its scheming best in the decisive victory.

In more good news, the LGIAsuper Community Hub will be back at 1300SMILES Stadium for one last time this season! Keep an eye out for us at the Broncos-Cowboys game on Friday night where we will be hosting Ronald McDonald House!
