Inspirational young leader

Community Volunteer Award Finalist 1

Claire’s passion for helping people started at the age of 11, on a trip to Cape York where her family ran youth holiday programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Seven years on and her list of community achievements is astounding.

Claire put her business management, people and leadership skills to good use when kick-starting Project Fiji, a program that provides affordable international volunteer opportunities for young adults. She also manages her own tutoring business, has taught at orphanages in Fiji and Vanuatu, is a Z Club Ambassador for Zonta International Foundation, and is interning at the Mackay Base Hospital while completing her nursing studies.

Other achievements include the Zonta Young Women in Public Affairs Award (2015 and 2016) and Mackay’s Young Citizen of the Year Award 2016.

Claire is one of the LGIAsuper Community Volunteer Award finalists in the 2017 Queensland Young Achiever Awards. We wish Claire all the best.
