Million dollar volunteer

Community volunteer award finalist 3

From the age of 12, Tani knew she wanted to dedicate her life to helping people. After volunteering for numerous community groups, Tani founded her own not-for-profit organisation, E.D.G.E (Everyone Deserves Global Education).

By sourcing recycled school equipment, Tani raised over $1 million worth of educational resources in six months, furnishing three school campuses in Tonga as well as refitting a hospital destroyed by cyclones. E.D.G.E remains dedicated to providing equal education opportunities and continues to source recycled goods for developing countries.

Tani has also completed her Senior Education Certificate, a Diploma of Business and is currently completing a Bachelor of Business on a scholarship program. Tani suffers from severe anaphylaxis, a heart condition, and short term memory loss, but has overcome these personal challenges to achieve more in her 20 years than many accomplish in a lifetime.

Tani is one of the LGIAsuper Community Volunteer Award finalists in the 2017 Queensland Young Achiever Awards. We wish Tani all the best.
