Council manager goes above and beyond

Above and Beyond LGMAQ

LGsuper congratulates Allan Hazell on winning the Local Government Managers Australia Queensland (LGMA Queensland) Above and Beyond award.

The award was sponsored by LGsuper, and recognises an individual who has gone ‘above and beyond’ their stated duties to provide added service to their council and community.

Allan (pictured left with LGsuper's Manager of Member Advice Garnett Hollier and LGMA Queensland's President Mark Crawley) received the award for his achievements as the Building and Plumbing Branch Manager at Noosa Council. He was nominated by his colleague Martin Drydale, Director of Infrastructure and Planning at Noosa Council, for his positive and proactive attitude towards making improvements to facilities and processes within council.

LGsuper Chair Bronwyn Morris congratulates Allan on his well-deserved win. “Allan has demonstrated how local government employees continue to be dedicated and innovative in an ever changing and ever demanding environment. I commend his exceptional service in helping to shape a better council for better community.”

The award was presented to Allan by LGsuper’s Manager of Member Advice Garnett Hollier at the LGMA Queensland Awards for excellence, held in Brisbane.

Allan’s commitment to saving council and ratepayers money extends beyond work hours and his role. Allan and his dedicated team built a new waste water treatment park and amenities block at the council’s campgrounds in their own time, earning nothing but thanks and appreciation from local residents for their efforts. And in a shift from pipes to the digital world, Allan teed up with an IT developer to create an iPhone app to analyse water quality.

LGsuper thanks Allan for his initiative, significant contributions to Noosa Council and commitment to going above and beyond the call of duty to improve his community.
