Income protection

If you become totally or partially disabled due to sickness or injury, Income Protection insurance can provide a benefit of up to 75% of your salary for up to two years.

Key features

  • You can be covered for a monthly benefit of up to 75% of your salary.
  • If you have a permanent role of at least 14.5 hours per week, you could have cover of up to $20,000 each month automatically, without having to show medical evidence of good health (limits apply).
  • You could have the option to change your waiting period.
  • Low risk or professional occupations could be eligible to pay reduced premiums (subject to other conditions).
  • You could get a recalculation of your insurance in line with salary increases each 1 July if you work for Queensland local government or another employer sponsor that provides us with your salary annually, and have a permanent role of at least 14.5 hours per week.

Duration of cover

Your Income Protection cover continues every year wherever you’re working, as long as you remain an LGIAsuper member and continue to pay your premiums.

Your cover continues until your 65th birthday. There are some circumstances where your insurance may end before then.
