Mykeala wins LGIAsuper Community Volunteer of the Year Award

LGIAsuper new CEO

First published: May 8

Mykeala Campanini has taken home the LGIAsuper Community Volunteer Award at the Queensland Young Achiever Awards, held at Brisbane’s Royal on the Park, Friday May 4.

The award covers all aspects of volunteering including (but not restricted to) youth at risk, the homeless and disadvantaged, emergency services, health, aged care and not for profit organisations.

Mykeala founded the animal rescue charity ‘Happy Tails Animal Rescue’ to re-house pets that would otherwise be impounded and euthanised. She said the LGIAsuper Community Volunteer Award provided wonderful recognition to those who have given their time to help others.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to be recognised for the work I am doing with my organisation Happy Tails Animal Rescue Inc. This prize money will be going towards helping to feed, flea and worm the many animals in our care, so thank you on behalf of all of them as well.”

LGIAsuper’s Head of Relationships Ben Moles presented the award, and paid tribute to the other category finalists Jasraaj Singh, Madison Birtchnell and Emily Ireland.

You can read about their achievements here.

Mykeala was also awarded the grand prize - the 2018 Queensland Young Achiever of the Year.

The 21 year old has secured government funding to deliver Queensland's first purpose-built facility to provide safety for pets when families flee domestic violence. Great work, Mykeala. We look forward to following your journey!

We’d like to congratulate last year’s LGIAsuper Community Volunteer of the Year Award winner Keely Johnson who received both the Leadership Award and People’s Choice Award. A talented performer, Keely contributed to the evening’s entertainment, wowing the audience with her sensational voice.

LGIAsuper is proud to support the Queensland Young Achiever Awards and celebrate the achievements of our state’s best and brightest. Based on the amazing talent within this group, our future is in good hands.
