The First Nations Foundation is an Indigenous charity committed to improving the financial skills and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Their upcoming event, the Big Super Day Out will take place at Musgrave Park in South Brisbane on Friday 13 July. LGIAsuper will be one of the super funds lending its support and expertise on the day.

Education Services Officer Peter Hoban said he was looking forward to helping people connect with their super.

“Indigenous people really want to get engaged with their superannuation but quite often don’t know where to start. That’s why these events are so important. Last year, we were able to help people track down their lost super, review their fees and answer any questions they had.”

Education Services Officer Daniel Robb will also be representing LGIAsuper at the event. He said improving the financial literacy of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people was something he was passionate about.

“I just returned from a tour of remote councils in far North Queensland. I’m always impressed by the appetite for super knowledge that exists among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in each of the communities we visit. I’m sure that enthusiasm will be matched by attendees at the Big Super Day Out.”

You can read more about the Big Super Day Out and the First Nations Foundation by visiting their website. If you’re attending the event, don’t forget to bring along your Tax File Number (TFN) and any other superannuation account details you may have.

LGIAsuper members will also have the opportunity to track down and consolidate their super using the Find my super tool in Member online

Since launching the tool, LGIAsuper has connected members with millions in lost or unclaimed super – and we look forward to reuniting more people with their hard-earned money on Friday 13 July.

LGIAsuper is a proud supporter of the First Nations Foundation and their efforts to improve financial literacy and retirement outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across Queensland.
