Saving lives through the power of plasma

Donating blood is a fantastic way to help others in your local community but did you know you can save even more lives by donating plasma? As special guests at the LGIAsuper Community Hub, the Australian Red Cross Blood Service was on hand to answer all questions from potential donors, as well as raising awareness about ‘the power of plasma.’

Visitors to the Hub also had the chance to pose for photos with ‘Billy the Blood Drop’ – the very friendly Blood Service mascot.

We’re not sure if Billy signed up to the Howdy Club but if he did, he would have taken home one of our super popular Howdy hats.

That wasn’t the only thing handed out at Saturday night’s game. Returning members received their very own LGIAsuper-Cowboys bounce ball!

On-field, the Cowboys poor start to the season continued with a 27-10 loss to the Bulldogs.

Both teams were desperate for a win, but it was the visitors who came out firing. Tries to Marcelo Montoya and Raymond Faitala-Mariner, along with four goals to Moses Mbye and a Kieran Foran field-goal made it 19 nil at the break.

The Cowboys started the second half in impressive fashion but were unable to convert field position into points. They were dealt a crushing blow when Bulldogs lock forward Adam Elliot twisted his way over to score in the 50th minute.

It took until the 61st minute for the Cowboys to register their first points with Kyle Feldt charging on to a wonderful cut-out pass from LGIAsuper Player Ambassador Michael Morgan  to score in the corner.

Ben Hampton has been one of the Cowboys’ best during the first month of the competition and the talented utility was rewarded for another wholehearted display with a try in the final minute. But it was too little, too late as the home side slumped to a 17-point defeat.

Paul Green’s men will be out for redemption when they return to 1300SMILES Stadium on Saturday night for the Round 7 Queensland derby clash with the Gold Coast Titans. Kick-off is at 7.35pm.

If you’re at the game, make sure you stop by the LGIAsuper Community Hub to say hi and pick up your piece of exclusive merchandise. Remember: current LGIAsuper members can use the LGIAsuper express signs to skip the queue, grab their free drink voucher and show off their new merch!
