6 October 2016
LGIAsuper Chair, Bronwyn Morris, has announced she will retire from the LGIAsuper Trustee of the $10 billion dollar Queensland super fund when her 3-year term as an independent director ends on 30 November 2016.
Ms Morris was appointed as one of three independent directors on 1 December 2013 during a period of significant renewal for the Fund, which also saw a member representative director election and new employer representative director appointments.
On 1 October 2014 Bronwyn was elected Chair following the retirement of Brian Roebig OAM, who led the fund for 19 years.
Ms Morris added a wealth of business and commercial experience to the LGIAsuper Trustee from over 20 years as an independent non-executive director of entities across a broad range of industry sectors including financial services. She is a chartered accountant and former audit and corporate services partner of a Big 4 firm.
LGIAsuper CEO David Todd congratulated Bronwyn on her contribution during a time of enormous change for the fund which is facing exciting opportunities and growth ahead.
“Operating in an increasingly competitive environment where retention and growth are vital to a fund’s success, Bronwyn’s tenure marked the start of era of transformation that has positioned the fund for successful long-term growth that will benefit all its members.”
“Bronwyn’s key achievements will leave a significant legacy for members, staff and peers and we thank her for the knowledge and leadership she has imparted”, Mr Todd said.
During her tenure, Ms Morris led the Fund’s current business strategy and focus on a stronger governance structure through enhanced monitoring, performance and operations.
Ms Morris also drove the replacement and modernisation of LGIAsuper’s administration system, name change from LGsuper to LGIAsuper and move to open the fund to family and friends of existing members in communities across Australia.
A process for appointing a successor is underway.
Founded in 1965, LGIAsuper today looks after nearly $10 billion in retirement savings for 85,000 members.
