Welcome to Brighter Super

Here you will find quick links to help you find your way round the website, important information, changes and dates about the transition to Brighter Super.

A message from the CEO

It is with great pleasure that we officially welcome you to Brighter Super – the new name for the group that came about through the merger of LGIAsuper and Energy Super and the acquisition of Suncorp Super. Brighter Super is built on the foundations of three Queensland funds and represents the best of our heritage – serving members in energy, local government, and more broadly since 1965.

As a combined fund, we are a stronger fund. As many of you will know, there have been a lot of consolidation and mergers in the superannuation industry recently. By coming together with other like-minded funds, we are staying true to our foundations while adding size and scale that will keep us fit and strong for the future. It gives us the opportunity to deliver fee reductions for our 260,000 members, and to expand our ability to focus on delivering solid, long-term returns to help give you the best possible retirement outcomes.

In the coming weeks as we transition back-end administrative services there will be a temporary suspension of member services. The Brighter Super team will guide you through the transition and will continue to deliver the outstanding superannuation advice and services you rely on and expect from us.

Again, welcome to Brighter Super who will be right by your side through all life's changing moments.

Yours sincerely
Kate Farrar
CEO, Brighter Super Group

Frequently asked questions

Additional frequently asked questions about Industry SuperFunds

  • Why doesn't the Brighter Super brand have the ISA logo (Industry SuperFunds), like Energy Super?

The Industry SuperFunds (ISA) Joint Marketing program is an initiative that funds pay to be part of. We decided not to continue this partnership with Brighter Super, which was a decision that considered the benefits for our members against the annual costs involved. This decision put the financial interests of our members first, which is always our priority as a profit-for-members group.

  • What does this mean?

It means Brighter Super cannot use the ISA logo in marketing or branding and will not be one of the brands included with 11 other funds in the ISA Joint Marketing Program.

  • Are we still involved with Industry Super Australia?

Yes. Industry Super Holdings (ISH) is the parent company of entities such as ISA Joint Marketing Program (Industry SuperFunds) and IFM Investors. Our fund is a shareholder in ISH, with a holding worth approximately $13m. Our investment team also uses IFM Investors to manage portfolios in Bonds and Global Equities.

  • Does this mean Brighter Super is still the brand for the energy industry?

Yes. Brighter Super is proud of its heritage as the fund for the energy industry. We continue to run our group with the same ethos, purely to profit our members. Brighter Super has retained its energy industry members and partners and we sponsor and support other partnerships in the electrical industry, including Mates in Energy, as well as MEA (Master Electricians Association) and NECA (National Electrical Contractors Association), among others.
